Pre-season training has already begun, which can only mean one thing: WordCamp Richmond 2011 is on deck! We\u2019ve been hard at work in the off-season. Hunter, Carrie, and I are excited to be working on a bigger, better, sports-ier WordCamp.<\/p>\n
Game Day is Saturday, November 12<\/strong> at Studio Center<\/a> in Scott\u2019s Addition. We really appreciate their willingness to donate the venue. This allows us to include more people without worrying about flagrant violations of personal space.<\/p>\n Based on feedback from last year\u2019s event, we are mixing up the format a little to make better use of the space and budget. Instead of 2 tracks (content and development), we are merging everybody into 1 track<\/strong> and shortening the sessions. This allows us to accommodate more people, keep ticket costs down, and offer a better lineup of all things WordPress.<\/p>\n We\u2019re not quite ready to open ticket sales yet, but will announce it 6-8 weeks before the event<\/strong>. These things have a way of selling out, so pay attention to this site (RSS<\/a>), @wordcamprva<\/a>, or #wcrva<\/a> so you don\u2019t miss the first pitch.<\/p>\n Want to volunteer?<\/strong> We need 1-2 batboys (batpersons?) to help set up and serve as ghost runners before, during, and after the event. It\u2019s a great networking opportunity and we\u2019ll comp your ticket.<\/p>\n We need speakers<\/a>! We\u2019re planning for 6 30-minute sessions and 2 1-hour panels.<\/p>\n Think you\u2019re ready for the big leagues? Send us your topic ideas and we\u2019ll put together the WordCamp equivalent of Murderers\u2019 Row<\/a>.
