Hey Campers,
Pre-season training has already begun, which can only mean one thing: WordCamp Richmond 2011 is on deck! We’ve been hard at work in the off-season. Hunter, Carrie, and I are excited to be working on a bigger, better, sports-ier WordCamp.
Game Day is Saturday, November 12 at Studio Center in Scott’s Addition. We really appreciate their willingness to donate the venue. This allows us to include more people without worrying about flagrant violations of personal space.
Based on feedback from last year’s event, we are mixing up the format a little to make better use of the space and budget. Instead of 2 tracks (content and development), we are merging everybody into 1 track and shortening the sessions. This allows us to accommodate more people, keep ticket costs down, and offer a better lineup of all things WordPress.
Put Me In, Coach!
We’re not quite ready to open ticket sales yet, but will announce it 6-8 weeks before the event. These things have a way of selling out, so pay attention to this site (RSS), @wordcamprva, or #wcrva so you don’t miss the first pitch.
Want to volunteer? We need 1-2 batboys (batpersons?) to help set up and serve as ghost runners before, during, and after the event. It’s a great networking opportunity and we’ll comp your ticket.
Recruiting All Star Speakers
We need speakers! We’re planning for 6 30-minute sessions and 2 1-hour panels.
Think you’re ready for the big leagues? Send us your topic ideas and we’ll put together the WordCamp equivalent of Murderers’ Row. Deadline for submissions is September 15th.
Join the Booster Club
None of this is possible without the support of our sponsors. We have a limited number of $300 sponsorships available. Please contact us if you are interested.
It’s going to be here before we know it. Don’t forget to stretch!
Your WC Player/Managers,
Carrie Fleck, Hunter Knierim, Andrew Miller
